1. ERAMET IDEAS

Coordinator, France

The Eramet Group transforms the Earth’s mineral resources to provide sustainable and responsible solutions to the growth of the industry and to the challenges of the energy transition. Manganese, nickel, mineral sands, lithium, and cobalt: Eramet recovers and develops metals that are essential to the construction of a more sustainable world. Fully committed to the era of metals, Eramet’s ambition is to become a reference for the responsible transformation of the Earth’s mineral resources for living well together. Eramet Ideas (EID) as the research and innovation centre of the Group, is dedicated to developing innovation to provide tomorrows technologies for mining and extractive metallurgy. To do so EID can count on more than 60 years of experience in process development, over 100 experts, lab, and pilot facilities as well as access to all the active operations of the Group.

2. BRGM

The French Geological Survey, France

BRGM, the French Geological Survey, is France's leading public institution for Earth Science applications and work towards advancing the Earth Sciences in strategic areas such as geology and environmental knowledge, mineral resources and the circular economy, digital data and infrastructure.

In collaboration with SOLSA DEM’UP partners, BRGM is contributing to:

  • the development and adaptation of on-site analytical instruments of the MODULAB and the validation of results in its own core shed, but also during the field demonstration.
  • the capitalization of geoscientific data and their processing using innovative numerical approaches such Artificial Intelligence methods.

In addition, BRGM is highly involved in the commercialization part by supporting the start-up Inel Innov with expertise in the fields of geology and the environment, including research, quality control, technical assistance and training, as well as management and soil depollution studies, sectors that are becoming an urgent and increasingly active market.

3. Royal Eijkelkamp

The Netherlands

Besides being a key player in the frontier of R&D projects focused on Mining Solutions, Royal Eijkelkamp is the market leader in developing and manufacturing Sonic Drilling Rigs and collaborates with all partners as the responsible of improving technically the drilling performance and the sampling (preparation) process of the SOLSA expert system. This includes the design of new parameters which will enable to introduce the sonic drill rig as a new generation of rigs with a safer operation and higher production through the new Wireline System.

In addition, the technicians and experts from Royal Eijkellkamp will be in charge of operating the drill rig during the field demonstration campaigns, providing drill cores to be analyzed by the robotic field lab (MODULAB) part of the SOLSA Expert System.

4. HIT

Hub Innovazione Trentino, Italy

Fondazione Hub Innovazione Trentino (HIT) is an instrumental body of the Autonomous Province of Trento and a research and knowledge dissemination organization. Other members include the University of Trento, Bruno Kessler and Edmund Mach foundations and Trentino Sviluppo Spa. HIT fosters innovation in the local socio-economic and production system, promoting technology transfer activities and stimulating companies and public administration to exploit knowledge and technology solutions produced by its scientific members.

HIT collaborates with all partners of SOLSA, facilitating interactions of the “knowledge triangle” and supporting knowledge transfer between higher education institutions, research centers and companies, helping to strengthen the research and innovation landscape by ensuring uptake of the SOLSA technology and results by industry, decisionmakers and the scientific community with an open innovation approach.

5. University of Trento

Università degli Studi di Trento, Italy

The University of Trento (UNITN) was founded in 1962 and has always aimed at building alliance and reciprocal efficiency with Italian and foreign institutions and organizations. There are more than 16,000 students, about 600 professors and researchers and the same number of technical and administrative staff: the University can provide an ideal environment for study and research.

Concerning SOLSA, the University of Trento will provide its expertise in laboratory analysis, crystallography and big data processing. The staff will boost capabilities in the related production of innovative analytical software algorithms, which will strongly support the industrialization of new mining and quarrying equipment.
