Barbara Maestracci, a former BRGM-CRISMAT PhD student has been awarded the 2024 Jean Goguel Prize by the CFGI (Comité Français de Géologie de l'Ingénieur et de l'Environnement / French Committee for Engineering Geology and the Environment).

Barbara Maestracci has been awarded the Jean Goguel prize for her outstanding work on the methodological approach of combined XRF-XRD (benchtop analyzer), in collaboration with the SOLSA-DEM'UP team (BRGM, TerrAnalytiX, University of Trento).  She will  be awarded her prize at the 12th 'Journées nationales de géotechnique et de géologie de l'ingénieur (JNGG)' in Poitiers from 25 to 28 June 2024. 

This prize is awarded every 2 years to a researcher or engineer under the age of 35 who applies the knowledge and skills of a geologist in an engineering or environmental field.

*Jean Goguel (2 January 1908 – 5 January 1987) was a French geologist and geophysicist. He was an Honorary Fellow of the Geological Societies of America, of London, and of Belgium. He played an important leadership role in the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics and he was made chairman of the European Association of Exploration Geophysicists in 1952.
